This is an image from the recent creative venture by Australian dance collective Remnant Dance in Yangon Myanmar as part of a multifaceted creative arts project exploring conversations across the body fronts through the metaphor of glass. The project was in partnership with Myanmar Vision International, MyKids Australia and Global Development Group. The Glass artworks are made by the children in the art group at AYDC North Okkalapa Myanmar.
The Glass Palace exhibition and performance in Perth, March 2014 was a small introduction to the international project tour and premiere (Hpan Myay Hman Myay - [Land of Glass Land of Mirrors] April 2014). The project at large involved a dance film, 3 dance performances, a series of creative workshops and an art exhibition in Yangon, Myanmar.
Special thanks to The Nagar family at the Nagar Glass Factory in Yangon, the place of much of the inspiration for the project, and the namesake for the title of the tour….and of course from the visual arts side of things: many more art works to come.
