..really love: Gautam Bhatia
He is an architect, artist and writer based in Delhi.
I came across his work by accident when I was in India in 2007/08, and then later, to my surprise and by chance in Art India magazine (www.artindiamag.com)
there was one particular image that caught my mind and my attention, it is a series of three drawings, titled " Green car" , "Greener Car" , and greenest car" in a progressive order, respectively.
I'll try and find the image on the net as I am too short of time to scan it (painting schedule this evening is rather demanding) post note NOOO!! ill have to scan it, sorry, and im busy now.
it is a simple drawing (3) and shows the process of dissolve. the idea of a constructed scape, an easy solution, a clear direct message. the efficiency of an architect, the resposibility of "function'. (small aside:please more architects in the art world!)Many of the people of India that I had met are incredibly passionate- artists particularly. I lived in an artist village for a while with some established artists that grew from various sources, one dominant source being the 1960's. they approached/approach their art with great gusto, gusto that seemed to mirror what i have read about the early 20th century modernists in Europe.
so i looked him up, again and again. ordered one of his books. i understand he has a great sense of humour so it was a 1 second sale!

architecture/construction is a new thread coming through my work at the moment, it ties in with ideas of constructed reality, invention, authorship. the fabricated self/world/perception,(the latter depending on if you are existentially inclined.)
It nice to see it (theme collection)linking into the image indulgent theme of theatrics, (acting playing, double images, shadows, anchors. links back to the Anais Nin quote posted a few days ago, on living life twice,(creating/writing or inventing-or extended to consumer culture as invention) etc etc...will try and stop there with themes.
articulation is not my thing!
however sharing what I love and how it influences me, is.

he says this immediatly:
Drawing is a means to an imaginary future.
Drawing the impossible makes it possible.
Ramesh House, Ranikhet
On a site facing a panoramic view of the snow-clad Himalayas, the house was a curved strip of window. Behind it, the activities of living, sleeping, eating came together in wall-less space
