...some progress
I am excited! ideas are coming together and I can completely indulge in any medium/subject matter I want. because it all fits together. some going themes:
constructed reality, consumer culture, duplicity, theatrical everything, vanitas paintings (yes- all the way back to the deep deep past!!)I can still use my shadows, layers, masking (in medium/technique and subject) colour/.superficiality/seduction/explosion. OTT, floating antigravity etc. machines, machines machines! hand made, author, invention bla bla blaaa...
progress update: weekend- building canvas' as many as time would allow..
monday- still building/bracing canvas
Tuesday: priming canvas' many, many times...lots of mess, and suntanning
tuesday arvo_ spray can explosions.. ah so much fun.
tuesday evening- so far: research then tonight i am going all yellow! I will post the new when it is a little bit older. At the moment it is al in my head.
time to get off the pc...

- I enjoy dissolving the lines we draw between things and softening/questioning definition. As an artist I am concerned about the modern consumer as a subject and how it defines identity, its permanence, transience, and ultimate contradictions. Using Games and Play as a base and falling into the vanitas philosophies of the 16th century (and a current resurgence of the theme with artists today) I am exploring ideas of invincibility, fantasy dwelling and desire, working them in with their counterpoint: temporality and decay. Construction sites is a body of work acknowledging the constant state of flux and building in our lives, self as author and life becoming an extension of the limitless imagination; a saturation of desire, temptation, accessibility and disconnection.
